A heavenly haven

Come 2014, Morocco’s most vibrant city will have a sparkling new addition to its ochre-hued landscape. Framed by the snow-capped Atlas mountains, Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech will be set in 20 hectares of manicured olive groves in the irresistible Palmeraie area. The magnificent main building will house seven spacious suites, each with their own rooftop pool and extraordinary views of the lush gardens and encompassing countryside. Situated in the resort’s grounds will be 54 riads (traditional Moroccan houses characterised by rooms overlooking a central atrium). These super-luxurious villas will each have their own 300 square metres private walled gardens, pools, hot tubs, open-air showers and separate areas for sunbathing and alfresco dining.

Both traditional Moroccan and international cuisine will be on offer at five innovative restaurants with various dining options available – from casual poolside eating or snacks and live music at a buzzing bar to a signature fine-dining restaurant.

A 1,800 square metre temple to wellbeing, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech, will provide a haven away from the buzzing city centre. It will include eight private treatment rooms, hammams, relaxation areas, a fitness centre and indoor swimming pool, and a wide range of Mandarin Oriental’s legendary treatments, including some inspired by local traditions. Roll on 2014!
